How is the repair and maintenance authorisation process handled?
Managing repair and maintenance costs could handled by, amongst others, using a fuel & services card; negotiating parameters with the preferred suppliers, at commencement getting a schedule of expected future costs from the supplier and comparing actual charges against these ‘budgeted’ charges. One can also monitor costs of one supplier against those of other suppliers. In addition, replaced parts could be returned to the customer and inspected from time to time by appropriately qualified and experienced people. This function could be outsourced. However the cost of doing so appears to be well in excess of the cost of managing the authorisation process in-house.
