How is the renovated Library building better than the old building?
• More space for library materials and library users. The renovated Library, at 62,500 square feet, has 65% more available space than the old building. This enlarged space provides ample room for the public and the collection of 225,000 items which overflowed the shelves in the old library. • Cost-effective, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. The new HVAC equipment replaces a noisy forty-year-old system in constant need of repair • A safer building infrastructure for the public, the collections, and the staff. A completely new roof replaces its leaky predecessor, asbestos was removed, the air quality has been improved, and termites found in the foundation have been eliminated. • Provisions for technology throughout the Library. No longer do extension cords and data lines crisscross the floor. The renovated building is equipped with data connections throughout, provides access to wireless technology, and contains a technology training center for the public and staff. • ADA co
