How is the Photo-Facial / Photorejuvenation procedure performed?
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. Dark glasses are given to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the laser handpiece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of laser are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required. The blowing cool air (in addition to the cold gel) helps to minimizes pain during treatment and to make the procedure more comfortable for our patients (see Pain Reduction). Each treatment usually takes about twenty minutes. Treatment is usually administered in a series of procedures that provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction rates. Why are multiple treatments necessary? Depending on the number of conditions you are treating, and the severity of the individual problem, a series of five or six treatment sessions may be recommended.
