How is the Online High School different from the Advanced Placement Program?
The Advanced Placement Program (AP), which is administered by the College Board, gives high school students exposure to college-level material through courses taught by high school teachers. By taking an AP Exam and scoring at a level set by participating colleges, students can gain college credit and advanced placement. On the average, the College Board reports that 64 percent of those who take an AP Exam receive a grade that is accepted for college credit, advanced placement, or both. Anne Arundel Community College administers the Online High School. Courses are taught by college faculty and on the average over 90 percent of those who enroll earn passing grades and receive college credit.
