How is the Oakland Zoo funded?
The City of Oakland and East Bay Regional Parks District contribute 15% collectively to the Zoo’s annual operating budget of $11.3 million. Contributions from private individuals, foundations, corporations, and memberships comprise 22% of the budget. Earned income provides the balance of funds. Operating support and earned income allows admission prices to remain low, and therefore, accessible to all economic levels of the community.
