How is the Milford cargo barrier installed?
A. The initial installation requires the permanent installation of backing plates behind the sheet metal of the vehicle’s body. Each plate requires drilling three holes into the vehicle’s body from the inside, two smaller holes with a larger hole centered between the smaller ones. The plate is slipped behind the sheet metal through the large hole and secured with bolts through the two smaller holes. The large hole exposes a female-threaded portion of the plate that accepts the bolt that attaches the barrier mounting strap to the backing plate. These bolts have a molded-on plastic knob to allow barrier placement or removal without tools. Temporary lifting of carpeting in the cargo area and trim or molding removal may be necessary during installation. Anti-corrosion sealer is supplied to coat the bare metal exposed during drilling. Installation times are less than two hours, usually just over an hour. Q. What tools are needed to install the backing plates during the initial installation.
