How is the material collected in carts going to be sorted and prepared for recyclable markets?
Significant modifications are being made this summer to the processing line at the West Van Materials Recovery Center that will enable greater mechanical sorting. The new equipment can effectively sort out commingled recyclables while maintaining the high quality material standards required by our regional markets. The investment for the sorting equipment upgrade is covered through a Clark County contract with the operator and will not impact the cost of recycling services.
