How is the mark for each exam paper determined?

0

Most courses are examined by a two hour exam in May / June. On a paper like this there will usually be four questions, each of which is marked out of 20. Bonus marks are added to your mark for a question if you get 13/20 or above: Mark Bonus 13 0.5 14 1 15 1.5 16 2 17 2.5 18 3 19 3.5 20 4 The maximum raw mark for a paper is therefore 96. If the course has assessed coursework your total mark on this is scaled out of 10 and added to your raw exam mark to give a raw maximum of 106 (so that the assessed coursework is approximately 10% of the total available). Once we have everyone’s raw mark (out of 96 or 106) the raw Pass mark (P), the raw Upper / Lower Second boundary (T), the raw lowest First class mark (E) and the maximum we can realistically expect any student to get (M) are specified.
