How is the Management Supervisory Service (MSS) relevant to the Department of Corrections?
In August 2000, the District of Columbia government implemented a new management system to help District employees excel in their jobs. The “Management Supervisory Service” (MSS) is designed to hold the District’s managers and supervisors accountable for implementing the city’s strategic goals and objectives. It addresses the long-standing pay disparity between many mid-level managers in the District and their counterparts in the federal government. This system also means a new investment in training and development opportunities for managers to give them the tools and support they need to succeed on the job.
