How is the Jewish calendar affected?

The Jewish calendar is entering the year 5770, but our problem is 2009. However, we’ve received several requests from children asking to double the month of Kislev in order to celebrate Hanukkah twice and get double the gifts. We decided against that idea after receiving several requests from parents to drop the month of Kislev and save on the gift giving altogether. The Jewish calendar will remain unchanged.
