The AMR system relies on the power lines to transmit meter reads from your home to the distribution substation nearest you. When we pick an area to install new AMR meters, we’re really picking one of our 7 substations to work out of and we’ll install meters on all feeders and lines connected to that substation. In some cases, if there is a tie to an adjacent substation, we’ll proceed to that one next.
