How is the In-Home Supportive Services program funded?
The IHSS program is funded by a combination of federal, state and county funds. The federal government pays about 50% of the county IHSS wages up to twice the state minimum wage. After recent budget cuts, the State of California pays 32.5% of any wage up to $9.50/hour. Marin County pays the difference. (Until state budget cuts, the state paid 32.5% of any wage up to $11.50/hour.
