How is the Growth Management Resolution different from standard zoning?
There are NO imposed zones. (There are zones for state-owned land, discussed later, and for VOLUNTARY agriculture-only parcels.) The entire township is treated the same, with agricultural or residential use as permitted uses. In other words farming and housing and the ability to split your land would not be altered by the proposed zoning regulations. Some very benign commercial and non-commercial uses are also permitted anywhere in the township. Residential development is already regulated by A) County Health Board Regulations, B) County Subdivision Regulations, C) County Building Code Regulations, and D) County Engineer Regulations. The proposed zoning resolution does not add any further regulation of residential development. All other uses would be reviewed by a panel of Franklin citizens, called a Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA).
