How is the fuel surcharge applied?

0

It varies between companies. Some assess a fuel surcharge based upon mileage (i.e. 5 cents per mile). Others calculate fuel surcharge as a percentage of the base transportation cost, or linehaul. For example, if a normal linehaul charge was $500 for a given move, these companies may assess an additional 2% fuel surcharge, or $10. Still others just raise their general rates.
