How is the four noble truths technically used in ones personal practise?
The four noble truths can be used in several ways. One of them is as an analytical tool. “1: There is suffering, dukkha. Dukkha should be understood. Dukkha has been understood.” The first NT is very much about acceptance and objectivity or approach to the suffering at hand. Everything becomes much easier to approach and deal with if thought of as “objects”. So you have to approach suffering at first and accept its presence. Then you need to investigate the suffering, to determine what it´s all about. Without this knowledge, there is only little you can do about the suffering. Last is the realisation of having understood what there is to understand of the suffering. If you go through the process half-heartedly, it won´t be working very efficiantly.
