The Prescription Drug List (PDL) is maintained by the Medical and Pharmacy Management Committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. The committee is composed of practicing physicians and pharmacists within the Kansas City area. Quarterly meetings are held to evaluate new drug therapies and review drug utilization issues. Medications are evaluated on the basis of safety, effectiveness, adverse events, proven advantages over existing agents and cost.
