The LPE is comprised of a written and an oral test. The written section consists of a composition, a series of multiple-choice questions covering listening comprehension, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar. The oral section of the examination is an interview conducted by one interviewer which lasts up to 15 minutes.

After an optional 15 minute tutorial, your exam will begin. The exam consists of 200 questions. You will be presented these questions in 5 blocks of 40. You will have 54 minutes to complete each block. At the end of each block you will be given the option of continuing to the next block or taking a scheduled break. You will have a total of 15 minutes of scheduled break time for the entire exam.
