How is the Department of Aging different from the Council on Aging?
The Department of Aging is a division of the Cabarrus County Government that is responsible for providing a wide variety of human services for local older adults. We coordinate such programs as Transportation, Nutrition, Weatherization and Housing / Home Improvement, In-Home Services, Senior Health Insurance Information Program, Information and Referral, operate the Cabarrus County Senior Center and serve as an advocate for the rights of older adults. The Council on Aging is a local organization that is composed of local older adults that represent most Senior Citizen groups throughout our community. They work very closely with the Department of Aging and serve as a support group for the departmental programs.
