How is the decision made between continuing dialysis and transplantation?
The decision to refer a child for consideration as a transplantation candidate is usually made by the child’s nephrologist. Sometimes parents request the evaluation. The evaluation itself is an elaborate and detailed process, beginning with a complete review of the child’s medical records by the Pediatric Kidney Transplant Team.
