How is the competition from Clariant, BASF and other MNCs?
BASF does not produce master-batches. Clariant, till date, has been saying that a new plant will come up at Thane. They do sell some speciality grade masterbatches. But, otherwise, we do not face competition from any MNC. How are you placed technologically compared to MNCs already operating in India and those which may enter in the future? I consider ourselves to be at par with other MNCs technologically. Though we have only one plant, its total capacity is 15,000 tonnes. Others might have 3-4 plants but their cumulative capacity is much lesser than what we have in our single plant. We believe in economies of scale and are investing every moment to upgrade our technology. Previously, we had a joint venture with an English company, Colloids Co., but after the venture period got over, we have not renewed it. We are quite confident of our own technical know-how.
