How is the COMLEX-USA Computerized Examination Timed?
The COMLEX-USA Level 1, Level 2-CE, and Level 3 examination are administered in a 4 (four) hour morning (AM) session and a 4 (four) hour afternoon (PM) session. Candidates typically receive 50 multiple-choice questions in each block with 4 blocks per session. Candidates should be aware of the following: 1. Each block is untimed within the AM and/or PM sessions. 2. Each AM/PM session is timed at 4 (four) hours per session. 3. Optional 10 (ten) minute breaks are identified after block 2 in the AM session and block 6 in the PM session. These breaks, if taken, count as examination time. 4. An optional 40 (forty) minute break is identified after the AM session is ended. The break, if taken, does not count towards total testing time. However, once the AM session ends and this 40 minute break is accepted the PM session will begin 40 minutes later automatically. Therefore, candidates may lose time if not back in time. 5.
