How is the car-maker industry doing in Los Angeles?
There was an article in the LA Business Journal mentioning that car makers may actually be able to expand in LA (good news). A Silicon Valley electric-car maker is actually setting its sights on setting up a plant in Los Angeles. The company is based in San Carlos, but the Los Angeles market is crucial to its success, since a lot of buyers will likely be from that area. As a result, unveiling the all-new four-door electric sedan called the Model S in Hawthorne proved a strategic choice for the startup company. Although it will not be directly in Los Angeles most likely, the plant will likely be nearby in Long Beach where the company has been looking into an area previously occupied by Boeing. There have been layoffs and shortcomings for the expectations as to when the cars would be released, but for the most part it looks like the future of the car-maker industry in LA lies in car-makers turning to alternative fuel solutions for their cars. With the stimulus plan from the current administration coming soon in 2009, there is also the possibility that there might be more prospects for businesses and thus a need to rehire.
