The BRC has proposed the creation of a Retail Compliance Scheme (RCS) as an alternative to the free in store take back’ option set out in the Directive. This was a response to the Government’s 2004 consultation paper and recent announcement in March 2005 on implementation of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive.
