How is the Bartholomew County Historical Society Funded as Not-for-Profit organization?
Funding for the Not-for-Profit derives from membership dues, contributions, memorials, special events, rentals, interest and grants. As the trustee of the county heritage, but not a department within the county government structure, the County Commissioners and Council have responded to an annual request from the Historical Society for financial support. Columbus Area Arts Council has allocated funds for general operating expenses which includes programming. BCHS is a member agency of the Arts Council. Who can be a member of the society, and what benefits come with the membership? Membership is available to all individuals seeking to support the activities of the Historical Society. As a member, the benefits include: a subscription to our newsletter – “Quarterly Connection”, invitations to upcoming events, programs and quarterly meetings as they are announced, 10% discount when renting the Breeding Farm, and knowing that you’re helping tomorrow’s generations.
