How is the Banco de España represented in the European System of Central Banks?
The Governor of the Banco de España is a member of the ECB’s main decision-making body, the Governing Council, and of the General Council, which is a consultative, coordinating body whose members also include the Governors of the central banks of the EU countries outside the euro area. Also, numerous technical and specialist staff of the Banco de España participate in the various ESCB committees and working groups by conducting studies and preparing proposals relating to the implementation of the common monetary policy and to the other functions entrusted to the ESCB.
