How is the Accelerated Reader (AR) program utilized in fifth grade?

0

The Kinnikinnick School District utilizes Accelerated Reader to stimulate and inspire student readers. AR is a combination of two types of programs working together to motivate and challenge readers of many ages. AR’s first component is the Gates test which is an exam taken by each fifth grader. The results of this test are used in establishing a reading level and a point requirement appropriate for each child’s ability. Once an individualized reading level and point requirement is established, students will begin accruing points by reading quality books and successfully completing short computerized quizzes on each book’s content. Goals are set per quarter. AR is worth 10% of your child’s reading grade. There are hundreds of books available within our district and at the Roscoe Library that are AR approved.
