How is the 3-4 year PhD study period organised?
The information below gives an outline of the tasks that you would expect to complete in each year of a traditional PhD. Each student is different however. Some will progress faster, some slower. Please note that the New Route and DHSci programmes have a different structure. In both these programmes, the first year is spent doing taught courses, and the empirical work starts only in the second year.
