Epic is the electronic medical record (EMR) system at UT Southwestern Medical Center. It is designed for patient care and is therefore focused on providing information necessary to support the patient visit. Clarity is intended to serve primarily as an operation data store. The Clarity system receives periodic extracts from the Epic system (Chronicles). Reports are generated from the data contained in these extracts and provide information on patient outcomes, clinical effectiveness, etc.
