How is Taekwondo different from Karate and Kung Fu?
A. Karate styles, which originate in Japan, value strong linear hand techniques and low linear kicks. Kung Fu styles, which originate in China, value circular motion in both hand techniques and kicking. Taekwondo incorporates the linear movements of Karate styles and the circular movements of Kung Fu styles. While Taekwondo is considered a dynamic kicking art that features jump kicks, spin kicks and jump spin kicks, many dynamic hand techniques are utilized as well.
