How is Swine Influenza transmitted?
It is transmitted person to person through nasal and mouth secretions (coughing, sneezing, talking, singing) or by direct contact (unwashed hands, and kisses of infected individuals). It is very contagious (3-7 days of incubation before initials symptoms) and increased risk when transmission occurs in a closed place (for instance, day cares, schools, nursing homes, homeless shelters, and others). It is estimated that this epidemic could move around the world in 3 to 6 months.
