How is supervision handled on field trips?
During our staff orientation, we go over very specific and detailed training regarding each one of our field trips. Prior to leaving for a trip, counselors are assigned a group of campers that they are responsible for on that trip. Groups can clump together (as they often do as campers make friends), but there is still one counselor whose focus is specifically on one group usually containing between 7 and 12 campers (this number varies with the number of campers going on a field trip and the type of trip). Additionally, every camper will be paired with another camper as part of our safe “buddy-system.” No camper is ever left on their own or unsupervised, regardless of their age.
