How is spring water different from tap water?

0

Tap water is also known as municipal or city water. This is the drinking water supplied by public utilities and it may be obtained from a variety of sources including reservoirs, streams, wells or lakes. It rarely comes from an actual spring. Municipal water is commonly chlorinated and filtered extensively for sanitation purposes. Currently the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is considering legislation to require that any bottled water that is made from tap water be labeled as being “from a municipal source”. This is designed to protect consumers so that they would be certain as to the source of the bottled water they are buying. There have unfortunately been a few cases in the industry where water marketed as being from a natural glacier or spring source, has been in fact tap water.
