How is spousal support (alimony) determined?
For temporary spousal support (from the time the Petition for Dissolution is filed until the divorce is final) there is also a support calculation that factors in the income of the parties and how much child support is received (and paid). The permanent spousal support order is based on many factors including: the property settlement, the standard of living during the marriage, the income of the parties, the length of the marriage, the age and health of the parties, the separate property assets of the parties and other factors.
