How is South Africa a 1st world country, extremely civilized, and the rest of Africa is not?
Well cape town was the first colony the British had in Africa, and it worked hard to keep it and develop it as it was a key port town. So Britain poured a lot of effort into stabilising it and industrialising it, and formed a country that could look after itself, so when it declared independence it could stand on it’s own two feet, whereas other African colony’s asked for independence when they had only just started with government, and therfore encountered corruption amongst other problems. Since the 1950’s, South Africa has been able to capatalise on it’s huge diamond mine resources to provide huge industrialisation. Lesotho and Swaziland are basically the lands granted to tribes of South Africa, but are civilised; they have good morals, were opposed to apartheid, and have strong foriegn relations.
