How is SOS online backup service?
My experience with SOS was negative. The service they offer sounded good so I signed up to try it. Before they download the program you have to read and agree to a licencing agreement. Standard, right? Well, I took the time to read the whole thing, not just scroll through to the bottom and accept it. I came across a word, “puffery”, which they described as a legal term for making extravagant claims for a product that were not based on reality, but were to get the buyers attention. This seemed like lying to me. So I declined. End of story? Not exactly. I had given them initially too much information (credit card #), so a charge from SOS shows up on my bank statement for $49.95, (a years worth of backup services that since I declined didn’t even download onto my computer!). I had to call the credit card company and now this charge is in dispute. What an irritating waste of Time.
