How is someone referred to community corrections?
The Department of Corrections referrals (transition) are referred to the community corrections board and programs where the inmate is declaring their parole destination. Diversion offenders, those sentenced directly by the court, are referred for placement by the Denver District Court . All referrals must be screened by the Denver Community Corrections Board for approval prior to placement in any of the facilities. The facility also has to approve of the placement before the offender can be moved by the referring agency.
