Yes, it is a bit different than singing in a choir-when you are in a musical, most of the time, there is belting involved. In musicals, everyone is singing with power, creating a wall of sound, while in choir, it is about getting a blend between everyone in the choir. Depending on the band, it can be very similar. One thing that is usually different that shouldn’t be in choir is the emotional part-when you sing in a musical, you are telling a story, and you need to show what you are feeling, where as most choirs are very straight foward (though they should be showing emotion!) Although it is never late to start theatre (if you have enough raw talent, you might be able to pull it off), but it is certainly not something you do on a whim! You need to have a passion and love for it, and its not just something you decide to do.
