How is sexuality education and human growth and development presented?
As you know, the topics covered in such units can be controversial. The WOW! Health Education series provides several options to make it easy for you to tailor teaching materials to your local mandates and needs. First and foremost, the main lesson content teaches the topics thoroughly and accurately without touching upon potentially controversial topics. However, the Optional Materials section offers additional information for those districts and schools who wish to share more information about growth and development, body systems, health promotion, disease prevention related to HIV and AIDS, sexuality education, and substance abuse prevention. For kindergarten through third graders: Optional Health Connections in the teacher’s guides under the tab titled Optional Materials briefly outline additional related comments that could be made in addition to the main lesson.
