How is Saturns moon Titan capable of sustaining life.?!?
Titan has three things which life requires: * Complex molecules * Liquids * Sources of energy The complex molecules are generated on Titan by the action of UV radiation on the nitrogen-methane atmosphere. These molecules are carbon-based, like the building blocks of life here on Earth. The lakes of liquid at the surface are made of simple hydrocarbons (methane and ethane) rather than water. All life here on Earth contains liquid water, however scientists including as David Grinspoon and Chris McKay have suggested that liquid methane and ethane could play a similar role there. It is also possible Titan has liquid water, not at the surface but some distance beneath. We humans get energy by taking in oxygen gas and combining it with sugars such as glucose. On Titan, organisms could get energy by taking in hydrogen gas, and combining it with carbon compounds such as acetylene.
