How is ReCell used to treat hypopigmentation disorders such as Vitiligo?
Hypopigmentation disorders, such as Vitiligo, result in patches of abnormally white skin and are the result of a lack of the pigment cell called melanocytes. There are many different reasons why these cells are missing. Melanocytes can be transplanted from an area of “normal” colour to an area of hypopigmentation. If transplanted at the same proportion as normal skin, the resulting skin can be the same colour as the surrounding skin, providing that the underlying cause that created the destruction of the melanocytes is under control.
