How is rational thinking related to science?

0

It is the essence of the scientific method. Rational thinking allows us to deduce or infer answers based on careful observation, and then allows us to prove or disprove those deductions with careful experiments. We use rational thinking to establish a hypothesis. We design an experiment to carefully test that hypothesis in a way to that can be repeated, and takes into account variables that may sway the results. We analyze the results to see if they support the hypotheses (or not) and to see if other questions are raised. We cannot reach useful conclusions about anything without the discipline of rational thinking. If x=y and y=z then x=z must be true.
