How is Rapoport Academy funded?
Rapoport Academy is funded by the State of Texas based on the average daily attendance of enrolled students (like other public schools). However, because of the funding formula used to determine our state revenue, we receive about two-thirds of the per-student funding that traditional ISDs receive, and we are allotted no funding for acquisition or maintenance of educational facilities. Over the years, numerous individuals and foundations have contributed to the development of the academy, including: Audre and Bernard Rapoport, Paul and Jane Meyer, Gary and Diane Heavin Community Fund, Cooper Foundation, Waco Foundation, Brown Foundation, and others. However, Rapoport Academy is not consistently funded by any entity other than the state of Texas.
