There are several variables that are considered when the girls are divided. Their skill level is the first variable that is assessed. One other consideration is what position your child plays (for instance, if she is a setter who will be playing that position full-time in HS next year, we need to try to get her on a team where she will be able to play that position primarily). Also, in some instances, we are required by the State High School Association to limit how many students from one particular district may compete together during the off-season (no more than 3 if the coach is associated with the same district). 6A-Playing time! In the 12 & under division, playing time should be as equal as possible. WAVA would like to have all the girls playing every position. In 14 & under, playing time should be as EQUITABLE as possible, with exception made for those girls who are setters (setters may have to play a little more).
