How is Planning and Zoning involved in getting a Building Permit?
The Department of Planning and Zoning conducts a plan review prior to issuance of any building permit. A zoning technician will review the plans for conformance with setbacks, building height, water quality requirements and other applicable regulations. A site visit is required; this can be done after the lot corners and building corners are staked. If there are issues that require follow up, this will be noted on the initial plan check and further inspections may be required at various stages of construction.
