How is Penfield Children’s Center funded?
Penfield’s annual operating budget funds Birth to 3 early intervention services, an outpatient orthopedic clinic, Special Care Nursery, Behavior Clinic and an accredited child care program. Revenue comes from government contracts and grants (28%) and fees for service, primarily Medicaid and private insurance payments (40%). The remaining 32% of the operating budget is supported by charitable contributions: United Way’s allocation is 6% and donations made by generous individuals, corporations, foundations, civic and religious groups and the proceeds from special events benefiting Penfield total 26%.
