There is some flexibility here. Generally the sin sot is paid in cash, and the banknotes are fanned out to show clearly how much there is. At some weddings a cheque may be used and at others, I have seen a newly opened bank account shown.The crowd will often clap, and even cheer, when the amount of the sin sot is announced. Often there will be some theatrics. At one wedding I attended, the cash was wrapped up in a cloth and the mother of the bride put it over her shoulder and walked away, making out that it was so heavy (and therefore a large sum) that it was hard to walk properly.
