How is Onko-Sure™ different than other FDP tests?

Other FDP tests only measure one or two of the selected degradation products. This does not give the complete picture of the total FDP produced by a cancer cell. There are two different pathways that affect FDP generation by the cancer cell, urokinase-Plasminogen Activator (u-PA) and Tissue Factor (TF) pathways. The type of FDP produced as a result of cancer will be different depending upon which of the two substrates is digested by plasmin. The balance between the two pathways may shift during the cancer progression. Therefore, it’s important to capture and measure all FDP’s from both pathways. If you only measure one or two degradation products, such as in a D-dimer assay, you can significantly underestimate the FDP levels in a cancer patient.
