• Answer: For all planning applications registered from 3rd August, the Council will notify neighbours that the application has been made. Neighbours are defined as any property within 20 meters of the development site. Neighbours will receive a notification letter giving some details of the proposal along with a location plan of the development site. Where there is no property on neighbouring land, the proposal will need to be advertised in the local press (the Council will arrange to place the advertisement, but the applicant has to meet the cost of it). It is the applicants responsibility to notify any other owners of the property or any agricultural tenants. Depending on the proposal, some applications need to be advertised in a local newspaper e.g. those classified as bad neighbour, where significantly contrary to the development plan or if in a conservation area.
