How is multitrack support implemented?
The Windows .WAV device driver supports two channels of audio input and two channels of audio output. For a software application to access more than two channels of audio, it must be able to address multiple devices (i.e., hardware cards), each with an associated .WAV device driver. Though Layla is a single device, the driver software makes each channel-pair on the unit appear to Windows as an individual hardware device. Assignments of audio inputs and outputs are made simply by selecting the desired channel pair.
