How is MIYFS funded?
MIYFS services are supported through a unique public/private partnership which as grown since the agency’s inception in 1973. Over 90% of the support comes directly or indirectly from the Mercer Island community. Contributions, fees, revenue from the volunteer-based Mercer Island Thrift Shop, the MIYFS Foundation and volunteer efforts combine with public fund investment from the City of Mercer Island, the Mercer Island School District and King County.
